Holistic Beliefs
In carrying out our approach, we draw from holistic beliefs that stem from biblical truths and lessons of the Old & New Testaments. We believe that:
ª God created the heavens and the earth, and created man and woman in his own image.
ª Man and woman brought about the Fall of Man, which adversely affected human relationships with God, others, oneself, and the environment.
ª We have received redemption through Jesus Christ, who came that “men (and women) might have life and might have it more abundantly.” This gift of redemption commits us to become more like Christ, who called all to love our neighbors and enemies.
ª Our relationships will continue to be affected by the fall until the full consummation of the Kingdom of God.
We also believe that:
ª The God of the Bible is the God of the poor and disenfranchised.
ª God has given us gifts according his grace in order to minister in broken communities.
ª God stands on the side of the oppressed, on the underline of history, on the margins of society to bring liberation and salvation.
ª Institutions that serve people (i.e., churches, faith-based organizations, and community-based organizations) must be committed to the poor.
We believe that we all can:
ª Make effective life-decisions by drawing on biblical truths and lessons of both Testaments;
ª Grow and develop holistically;
ª Strengthen their character and leadership capacity;
ª Exercise personal and social responsibility;
ª Use our gifts to minister and edify/build up others; and
ª Strengthen the pillars in their community.
We also believe that:
ª We are called to exert love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control so as to be children of light.
ª We must foster authentic reconciliation and redeem relationships throughout our lives.
ª Our relationships must be based on expressions of love and not personal gain.
ª We must not rely exclusively on assigned leaders to meet the needs of our communities.
